Our final episode discussing Jude, specifically verses 17-25.
Things that can help our walk of faith: be in community with other Christians, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and wait on the Lord. It's so important to not run ahead of God, but let Him work in His time.
We hope you enjoy our conversation on Jude.

Another week talking about the little letter of Jude. This week we dive deep into verses 12-16, but especially verse 12. The Greek word spilas means a hidden rock or reef in the water that could potentially damage the boat or even shipwreck it. But it's also metaphorical about people who can shipwreck our faith. This is why it's so important to know the Word, be in prayer, be in fellowship with other believers, and ask for discernment. May God grant each of us the power of discernment so that we are not caught unawares by hidden "rocks" which could derail our walk with the Lord.

Week 2 on the Book of Jude. Here are a couple of helpful references. The story of Sodom and Gomorrah can be found in Genesis 18-19. The story of Cain in Genesis 4. Balaam is referenced in several places throughout Scripture but the initial story is in Numbers 22 and subsequent chapters and referenced again in Revelation 2:14. Korah's rebellion can be found in Numbers 16. Jenny made a comment about the story of Michael disputing over Moses' body is in an apocryphal book. That is incorrect. That story may have been in a now lost book called "The Assumption of Moses" which Origen (an early church theologian) mentions in his writing.
Sometimes reading Scripture requires a little (or a lot of) extra digging.

Happy New Year friends! Enjoy our first conversation into Jude, a letter found near the end of the New Testament. This is the first of a series on Jude so it may be helpful to read the short letter for yourself. While Jude is a short letter, it contains a depth of meaning. Let's start off 2023 with a dive into Scripture.

Today's episode we welcome one of our favorite people, Major Cherri Hobbins who was the principal of the training college where we studied to become officers in The Salvation Army. Have your paper and pencils ready to add to your book list and be ready to be encouraged.
The subscription service mentioned is Scribd (there is a cost) and can be found online and as an app. Jenny has found it to be helpful in keeping book purchases down while still being able to read copiously.

Misfit Messengers
Throughout Scripture we see God use all sorts of different people for His purposes, even the misfits, especially the misfits. That's us. We're just ordinary people that God has called to share His Gospel message with those we meet. We're misfits, but misfits with a message of hope, of love; a message that is changing the world. We invite you to our conversation about that message and the one who sent it to us to share.
