In today's episode we finish our conversation on the letter of 1 John. There are a few passages in today's section that can be troublesome for interpretation. We always need to make sure as we look to understand what Scripture means that we look to the whole of the Bible. Does the interpretation line up with the rest of Scripture? 
 

Our continuing conversation on 1 John takes us to chapter 4:7-5:5 today. It boils down to "be kind" and "don't be a jerk". Love for others can be difficult at times, but God loved us first so that we can love others. 

We continue our conversation on 1 John in chapter 4 verses 1-6. Testing the spirits, learning to listen to the Holy Spirit for discernment and somehow the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles find themselves referenced.

Another installment of our conversation on the letter of 1 John, finishing up chapter 3. Today we talk about living out love with action, learning to cooperate with the Holy Spirit in His endeavors to renew and regenerate us, and we sing a little Sunday School chorus. 

We are back in 1 John chatting about chapter 3 - God's lavish love and our response. Why do we sin when God loves us so much? What does it mean to be a child of God? God's love for us is lavish, extravagant, costly, and sacrificial. What then is our response?
